Critcs’ Choice Awards, i vincitori: trionfa American Crime Story, Jeffrey Dean Morgan premiato per il Negan di The Walking Dead

FX batte HBO 6 a 4; su 22 nomination HBO conquista solo 4 premi portandosi a casa anche i due più importanti miglior drama e miglior comedy andati a Game of Thrones e Silicon Valley.
Questo il verdetto della 22° edizione dei Critics’ Choice Awards, i premi consegnati dalla Broadcast Television Journalist Association e andati in onda domenica 11 dicembre su A&E. 22° edizione che si è svolta lo stesso anno della precedente, dopo la decisione dell’associazione di anticipare tutti gli altri premi sia cinematografici che televisivi che saranno annunciati tra gennaio e febbraio. Un’edizione segnata dalle polemiche, con l’uscita di alcuni giornalisti dalla giuria dopo la decisione dell’associazione di dare a People e Entertainment Weekly l’esclusiva.
Tornando alla gara come detto in apertura FX batte HBO grazie a American Crime Story: People v OJ Simpson che vince come miglior serie limitata e tra gli attori, ma anche grazie a Atlanta con Donald Glover che ottiene il premio come miglior attore e Baskets con Louie Anderson che ottiene il premio come miglior attore non protagonista in una comedy. Se tra gli attori i critici hanno scelto molte serie alla prima stagione, come Evan Rachel Wood e Tandie Newton per Westworld o John Litgow per The Crown (premio obbligato, vista la sua bravura), nelle categorie principali hanno scelto “l’usato sicuro”. Mentre tutti scommettevano su Atlanta è stata così Silicon Valley a vincere come miglior serie comedy e il co-protagonista di Atlanta, Keith Stanfield ne ha approfittato per fare un’incursione a sorpresa sul palco e accettare il premio, così da ironizzare sulla mancata vittoria.
L’incredibile Jeffrey Dean Morgan è riuscito a vincere il premio come miglior guest performer in un drama per il suo Negan di The Walking Dead. Mentre Outlander è stata votata come miglior serie da “maratona” da bingewatching.
