Dowton Abbey, Game Change, The Big Bang Theory, che hanno ottenuto quattro nomination a testa, sono le tre fiction che hanno ottenuto più candidature ai Satellite Awards 2012, i premi cinematografici e televisivi assegnati dalla International Press Academy.

Il period drama britannico dovrà vedersela nella categoria miglior serie drammatica con Breaking Bad, The Newsroom, The Good Wife, Game of Thrones, Homeland e, a sorpresa, Nashville (la serie matricola è doppiamente candidata nella categoria migliore attrice drama con Connie Britton e Hayden Panettiere). La miniserie politica HBO, invece, si confronterà nella categoria miglior miniserie/film tv, con Hatfields & McCoys, Hemingway & Gellhorn, Luther e Sherlock. La comedy CBS, candidata anche al premio come miglior attrice protagonista (Kaley Cuoco) e miglior attore protagonista (sia con Johnny Galecki che Jim Parsons), si giocherà il premio come miglior comedy insieme a Girls, Community, The Office, Happy Endings, Up All Night, Parks and Recreation e Modern Family.
